I graduated college in the middle of the 2008 global financial crisis and took a job it turned out I was overqualified for in the financial industry. I would finish my daily work by mid-afternoon. I realized I should go back to graduate school if I wanted to have a career that was more challenging. I always liked the idea of managing portfolios but I thought you needed to be a “cold-caller” if you wanted to enter that business. I was pleasantly surprised when I came across Gibson Capital, where investment research and working with existing clients was at the fore while cold-calling was not even in their vocabulary.
As Director of Investment Research, I lead the firm’s investment strategy, including asset allocation research and conducting due diligence on investment managers. In addition, I oversee the delivery of financial planning services and serve as a Senior Advisor for high-net-worth and institutional clients.
I have presented at national industry conferences on the topic of after-tax asset allocation, having developed a sophisticated optimization tool for jointly evaluating client asset allocation and location decisions.
I earned my Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in Finance from West Virginia University and hold the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERⓇ professional designations.
I reside in Mars with my wife Olivia and our sons, John and George.
