Collaboration, Commitment, and Culture: The Heart of What Makes Gibson Capital a Best Place to Work

by Christine DeMao November 13th, 2025

2025  is shaping up to be a special year for GC! Our year-long celebration of our firm’s 35th anniversary culminated with the happy news that we were included in the Pittsburgh Business Times’ list of our region’s Best Places to Work for 2025, our second appearance on the list.

The Best Places to Work Awards recognize Western Pennsylvania employers that have “gone above and beyond to create an outstanding workplace culture.” We consider this award to be particularly meaningful because it’s based on confidential feedback from the firm’s employees.

The survey asks employees to evaluate their employer on six dimensions: goals and leadership, communication and support, advancement opportunities and skill development, recognition and compensation, tolerance and flexibility, and embracing innovation and ideas. Of the 85 local organizations that were recognized, GC placed a respectable third in the small company category (10–24 employees).

The Pittsburgh Business Times’ summary of the survey results indicates that the theme that consistently showed up in the feedback for the winning organizations was an emphasis on teamwork and collaboration. This is music to our ears! Much like our collaborative approach to our work with clients, we have structured our firm’s roles, responsibilities, and processes to create an environment where collaboration thrives. Research shows that collaborative workplaces cultivate faster problem resolution, better leverage expertise across an organization,  more creative and innovative thinking, and  more cohesive teams, which helps us  achieve our mission of delivering exceptional service to our clients.

On September 17, we sent four of our culture champions to represent GC at the Best Places to Work Awards ceremony at PNC Park during the Pittsburgh Pirates’ home game against the Chicago Cubs. Anne Stalter, Director of Finance; Blake Curle, Partner and Advisor; Brian Frankin, Director of Client Service; and Nora Duncan, Business Operations Associate, spent the sunny day in the left field and rooftop lounges enjoying the baseball game and connecting with the other winners while the rankings were announced. The Pirates may have lost 8-4, but it was still a beautiful day for a ballgame! You can see a gallery of photos from the day below.

We are incredibly proud of the culture that our entire team is building together. One where excellence, hard work, generosity, gratitude, respect, and joy exist harmoniously — all in the interest of delivering uncommonly attentive advice for our clients.

Congratulations and thank you to our staff for your steadfast dedication to each other, our shared vision, and those we serve. And, as always, we thank our clients and business partners for your continued trust in Gibson Capital — you give our work meaning and purpose.
